Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You; Ask What You Can Do For Your Baby!

America in the 1960's was a time of change. Gone were the conservatism of the previous decades; the people wanted change from what they wore to the arts renaissance and onto more serious matters of civil liberty and human rights. The space race was gaining momentum and new technology was making the world closer and faster.


When President John F. Kennedy made his famous presidential speech in 1961, there was a spirit of enthusiasm and radical change of mindsets. America and the world was on the edge of something new and exciting and if you think about it, we would not have the wonders of today without the influence of Andy Warhol, The Beatles, Woodstock, Muhammad Ali, Spacewar! & 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Now what does the 1960's have to do with my blog on our little princess? Well, our little Stephanie Tia is on the edge of new discoveries. Everyday, she is learning something new and things that we take for granted like the sunrise or a butterfly emits joys of wonder from our little one. In the midst of our busy lifestyle it is easy to get sidetracked to the simpler things of life. When was the last time you just laid on the grass and watched clouds pass by or how about calling that ice-cream man on the motorbike and having that sumptuous ice-cream in a bread. When I commute in the train every morning and evening, I notice a lot of people with their noses in their smart phones or tablets playing games or watching a movie. I then noticed one day a young boy of around the age of three looking out of the window and watching the delight on his face with the brightly lit buildings and cars. When we grew up, we somehow lost that child-like aura; in our evolution to adulthood, we have discarded ourselves. 


When Stephanie started taking her first tentative steps, I could almost hear Neil Armstrong's "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind". Gone was that little baby that we could rock in our arms and here she is now running about enjoying her freedom in the great outdoors of life. Like America in the 60's, change for Stephanie Tia will be difficult but with the right guidance, she's gonna enjoy it.

I have decided to re-start this blog as I needed this creative outflow to burst forth again and as JFK famously said to paraphrase, let's not wait for someone to bail us out, let's see what we can do for ourselves and of course for our little princess. As we continue this journey of discovery together, I feel compelled to share this verse that came to my mind. As people only see stars when they see the night sky, let's look out for the angels in them...
