From Diaper Speedster to Running Superstar: My Baby's Incredible Journey

You won't believe it, but my daughter has discovered her love for running! It's like she was bitten by the running bug, and there's no stopping her now. Who would've thought that running was hiding in our genes all this while? Well, except for Papa, who was a state runner, but let's not digress.

Back when she was just a tiny tot, she was already showing signs of being a speed demon. I remember those diaper days when she waddled faster than a speeding bullet, and my wife and I would chase after her like we were in a race against time. Diaper speedster, they should add that to the Olympics!

The first hint of her running prowess came during her kindergarten's fun run event. She had to pass the baton to her friend and, boy, did she turn on the turbo boost. She zipped past her classmates like the Flash on a mission. Unfortunately, her teammates couldn't keep up, and they toddled along like slowcoaches. Ah, kindergarten drama, you gotta love it!

But it was in Standard 1 when things got serious. Trials day came, and my little speedster was 2 to 3 seconds faster than anyone at her level. And let me tell you, in a 50-meter race, that's like a lifetime! We were all there to cheer her on, even though her sports day decided to start at the witching hour. Yes, 8 pm for a bunch of seven-year-olds. Talk about sleepy spectators! But that didn't deter us, we were there in full force, ready to witness greatness.

Then, the pandemic hit, and sports events were put on hold. Oh, but did we sit around feeling sorry for ourselves? No way! My daughter and I turned our home into a mini sports arena. Online Zumba and sports galore, you name it, we did it. We were like caged animals, bursting with energy when the rules were relaxed, and we could finally have a run in the nearby park.

Finally, last year, her school's Sports Day made a triumphant return after the pandemic hiatus. And guess who was the star of the show? Our very own Stephanie Tia, of course! She signed up for everything, from the 100m dash to the 4x200m relay, and she even threw in a shot put, just for kicks. The girl loves sports, and she was determined to conquer them all.

With our cheering squad in full force, we hollered and screamed like banshees, urging Stephanie Tia forward. And boy, did she deliver! Gold, silver, bronze, she snatched up medals like it was a grocery shopping spree. We couldn't have been prouder, and I'm pretty sure the neighbouring town heard our cheers.

Sure, this new sports season started with a bit of disappointment in the cross-country event, but you know what we told her? It's not about winning, it's about doing your best, learning from your mistakes, and soaring on wings like eagles. And of course, Isaiah 40:31 verse we've instilled in her. Those who hope in the Lord will run and not grow weary, right?

And now, we're gearing up for this year's Sports Day, ready to unleash our banshee screams once more. Stephanie Tia, our little speedster, is set to conquer the track and show the world what she's made of. There's no stopping her now, and we'll be right there, running alongside her every step of the way.

So there you have it, the tale of how my daughter discovered her love for running, and how our family turned into a wild bunch of screaming banshees at every sports event. Life is funny like that, isn't it? Who knew a little run at the end of the road could lead to a full-blown passion for racing? But hey, that's the beauty of life's surprises. And for Stephanie Tia, the running journey has just begun, and we're excited to see where it takes her next.
